How your guaranteed price works
Two things worry people about movers: a price that changes, and a crew nobody can account for. Here is how we take the first one off the table.
We see the job first
By video or in person, a Ferguson Move Manager looks at what is moving, the access at both ends, and anything that needs extra care. We never give a price before a survey.
You get your price in writing
We email and text it to you before we start. On a flat-rate move, the total is fixed. On an hourly move, the hourly rate is fixed. We tell you plainly which one you have.
We stand behind it
If we quote a flat rate and misjudge the job, that is our cost, not yours. If we quote an hourly rate, that rate does not go up on moving day.
What every price includes

- Valuation protection up to $6 per pound. The industry standard is 60 cents.
- Live GPS tracking, so you can watch your truck on a map.
- No piano surcharge.
Moving long distance? You get two prices to choose from: our own dedicated truck with an exact delivery date, or a shared van line shipment that typically costs about 20% less with a delivery window of typically 3 to 7 days.

What does it cost to get my price?
Nothing. The survey is free and you are under no obligation to book.
Will my price change on moving day?
On a flat-rate move, the total is fixed in writing. On an hourly move, the hourly rate is fixed in writing and the total depends on the hours worked. If what you are moving changes, tell your Move Manager and we will update your price in writing before moving day.
Which survey should I pick?
If your home is easy to show on camera, either video option works well. Pick live video if you want someone to guide you, or self-guided if you want to do it on your own time. Pick in-home for larger homes, long-distance moves, or special items.
What should I show in a video survey?
Every room with items to move, plus storage areas, the garage, and any sheds. Show the front door, stairs, elevator, and where a truck can park.
What if I forget something in my video?
Call or text your Move Manager. We will update your price in writing before moving day.
Can storage be part of my price?
Yes. Tell us if there is a gap between your dates or if some items need to be held, and we will include storage in your written price.
What does valuation protection cover?
Every move includes valuation protection up to $6 per pound. The industry standard is 60 cents per pound. Your Move Manager will walk you through how it applies to your move.
Do you book the elevator at my building?
No. Your building needs you to reserve it. We tell you the time window to ask for so the crew and the elevator line up.
