Four cubic feet of room for the light, awkward things — bedding, pillows, blankets, off-season clothing, cushions and toys. Roomy enough to clear a linen closet in two boxes, and still manageable to lift as long as you keep the contents light.

Save heavier items for the 2 cu ft box; a large carton packed with books becomes a two-person lift and a split seam. Wrap anything fragile in bubble wrap or packing paper before it goes in.
